I saw this video a while ago over @ Gizmodo, and thought that you, my faithful readers, would find a dose of science on a Tuesday morning.
Will more people swerve out of their way to HIT a turtle or snake on the side of the road?
Can't blame the people running off the road to hit the spider. Spiders suck. But I'm not swerving out of my way, risking my own life, just to grease one along a California highway.
What would you have done?

I would never run over a turtle on purpose. Never. And if I ever ran over one on accident, well, I can pretty much guarantee you that I would cry my eyes out for about five years afterwards.
*sniff*
Growing up, we had a turtle. Which mom accidentally ran over and cracked it's shell. We buried it and tried to go on. The next spring, guess who showed up in our backyard?
Yup, the turtle. I don't know how long we had it, I just remember being relieved that it had 'come back'. So, no, I wouldn't purposely run over a turtle.
So Cal Gal, that is one AMAZING story, btw! The turtle was HIT BY A CAR, then BURIED, and then showed up in the spring like NOTHING HAD HAPPENED?!?! That's one tough turtle.
Animals I've hit:
Squirrel
Bug
Bird
Deer (just nipped the car)
Opossum (but it was dead)
I've never purposely hit an animal. I swerve to avoid or slow down to give it time finish crossing. I accidentally hit a raccoon that crossed in front of me while I was going 70mph. Nothing I could do.
Achtung! This is a test of the International World Verification Detection System. In the event of an actual comment, something quite profound and greatly uplifting to all concerned will be left. (LOL?) (Please?)
