11 inch "magic wand"? Button-Check Button-X

The other night, I went to see the new Harry Potter movie.  Opening night.

As you may recall from THIS POST, I am fairly new to the Potterverse, and this is the first of the movies I saw.  My review:  WOW, if I hadn't read* the book, there are a whole lot of things that would not have made sense to me at all.

I don't want to get all SPOILERY, but seriously, I think the really removed the sense of danger and peril that permeated the book.  The school didn't seem well guarded.  The kids strolled into town like it was nothing.  The movie was 99.9% Tonks free, etc.

Oh, I liked it well enough, but it just didn't seem to stand up on it's own as an independent movie as much as I'd hoped.

Feel free to start ripping me.

* OK, listened to the audio-book.

Please. An eleven inch "magic wand" would be a little frightening. That's what's called waaaaayyyyyyyyy too much of a good thing.

I am ignorant of all things Potter, except Col Sherman T. Potter...
He was good but I think I liked Lt. Col. Henry Blake better...

This is how I segue..ride the wave..

I am not going to rip you. I felt the same way. It was the first Potter movie that I was really disappointed in.

I always thought the two of you looked similar. I have a spare 11 inch wand in my desk drawer if you want it?

Just one of many, many, movies that I have not seen.

Sigh... I have to live vicariously through others these days.

I don't think any of the movies stood up to the books, but oh well. These was also my least favorite of the movies so far.
Have a great trip to Seattle!

I laughed out loud when I read that.

It wasn't as good as the other movies, and nothing's ever as good as the books, but I still totally enjoyed it!

Books are (almost) always going to be better than the movie because your imagination makes it better. The exception, imo, was The Dead Zone w/Christopher Walken.

Listening to the books is far better than reading them. The narrator is fantastic!

It was the first Harry Potter movie I saw too. Honestly, I haven't read or seen any of the J.K Rowlings works. I went to go see it to accompany one of my cousins since no one was able to go with her. Eh, I was like what the heck lets see it and I even though I didn't understand many of the parts (obviously) I really enjoyed it. =) It made me want to see the others aswell.

Hi - I'm new around here, but had to say that your comparison chart made me giggle! I have been a big Potter fan for ages, and can't wait to see this newest film.

Btw - I'm lucky #80. Woot!
