Zibbs, totally channeling you for this post. Consider it an homage, not a rip-off.
Yesterday, while avoiding housework, I called Cora to talk about our plans for her visit next weekend. Somewhere during the conversation, I dropped the phrase, "taking LSD."
LSD = Lake Shore Drive, of course. One of the prettiest stretches of concrete you will ever have the pleasure of being on, within the confines of a major metropolitan area. (I rarely refer to it as 'LSD' it is more commonly 'Lake Shore' or 'The Drive'.) And then I started singing, "There ain't no road just like it, anywhere I've found. Running south on Lake Shore Drive, heading into town. Just slipping on by on LSD, Friday night trouble bound."
Huh?
Yeah, we tend to forget that the song Lake Sore Drive by Aliotta, Haynes, & Jeremiah isn't really all that well known outside of the area.
While you think about what songs might be regionally famous in your area, you can take a little LSD trip this Sunday.
Have a good weekend, all-ya'll. And I hope your mind is feeling fine.

Wow! LSD really is a fun trip, man.
*wink*
Is this the road they were driving down in Ferris Bueller's Day Off as they pass the through the city while "Beat City" by The Flower Pot Men is playing?
Oh! And you weren't kidding about Chicago being flat as a pancake, were you? Not a hill nor slope in sight! Bizarre.
I suddenly feel like I live on a ROLLER COASTER - I can't go ANYWHERE without going up and down twisting, curvy hills.
In fact, remember the steep hill we went down after visiting Jimi on the way back to my house right by my daughter's school (where you said "woah!" as we started off down it and then told me how hill-less your city is)? I go down that hill every day with the kids in the car and every single time they put their hands in the air and scream like they are on a roller coaster!! Even the one year old. Hee hee. :-)
Most every film in shot in Chicago will try to have a "driving on Lake Shore Drive" shot in it if they can. Most do the "Southbound" shot at the start of the video. But as you can see in the video, when they turn around, the drive north has a better skyline view.
It's like a movie set in Hollywood that not doing a quick "Hollywood" sign shot.
And the Drive does climb a bit to cross the River. Does that count. Otherwise, freakin' flat.
And how to I play into this?
Always appreciate the shout out but I don't understand the attention. Are you saying I'm on LSD?
Yeah. That's probably it.
Zibbs, while you are a trip, the style of the post is you:
1) Short story about something that happened recently or thought that crossed my mind.
2) Ask readers how this relates to their life.
3) Post YouTube video.
Short, sweet, to the point. Zibbicized!
Candy's daily Dandy brought me here, glad to be following along! Oh, and Cora is awesome. :)
>It's like a movie set in Hollywood that not doing a quick "Hollywood" sign shot.
Yeah, it's so stupid. If I remember correctly, they showed the Hollywood sign sometime during Pretty Woman. Even though the places they filmed (even when he picks her up in Hollywood) were nowhere near the sign. lol!
Luv'd the LSD Trip! It's been a long time!
For the young'uns, Kanye references Lake Shore Drive on his song Drive Slow.
Hit Lake Shore, girls go all crazy
Hit the freeway go at least 'bout 80
; )
Phat Momma - Welcome. I recognize you from around. Thanks for the follow!
Starbender - Thanks for stopping by.
Soda & Candy - Yeah, in Chicago, as long as you're not in a construction zone, "speed limits" are much more of a theoretic thing than a practical thing.
I can't believe you guys are taking LSD.
My granddad's was one of the chemists instrumental in "discovering" LSD.
Wait a sec, you're not talking about that LSD are you?
*squirm*
Assuming you have now done your housework.
Ahh, 'stop and go' traffic - I know it well. lol! Nice drive!
I was really rooting for the cameraman to have one of those elusive no-stop-and-go drives, just for the effect. But I do believe my favorite part wasgetting stuck behind the honkin' huge red Ford Windstar minivan. Sheesh. :P
"Trippy" video. The colors....so....groovey.
