Family Time – Part 1

I awoke Friday in Seattle.  Snuggled up with my fiancée, and went back to sleep a little longer.  Then awoke again.  Re-snuggled.  Napped again.  Finally we got out of bed and had some breakfast.

AvatardCora, her daughter Gwen, and I got ready, and were out the door, and made it to our first destination: Avatar-3D.

I don't know if you have heard of it, but it is a movie by the guy who directed Piranha Part Two: The Spawning.  It's a movie about how bad corporations are.  How bad humans are.  And how the love children of the Smurfs and Bushmen of the Kalahari.  The Bushmen get their tree house blown up by the bad corporate goons.  Since that was the obvious end of the movie, we got up and left.  What?  Huh?  The savages recovered, rallied, and achieved a victory that appeared unobtanium-able?  Man!  I didn't see THAT coming.

Avatar-2

After the movie, we went to the Subway in the mall.  I had a foot long tuna sub.  Were you aware that tuna can have the "Asparagus Effect"?  Don't worry, it faded by Sunday.  But that first waft is always a surprise.

After lunch, we… to be continued, when I'm in a more serious mood.

So...mixed review on Avatar? I haven't seen it. The hype was too much and I don't feel like paying an arm and a leg to see the movie, especially when I have a movie theatre 3 miles away that costs $1.75.

I always go 'foot long', it is the only way forward. You are a real man.

I think the 3 of you should wear those 3d glasses in the wedding!

So ya missed the end of the movie??? I can't get my hub to go-- he thinks it's just way too long to sit through, but I know how much he'd love the special effects...

Done raining there?

Terrible movie. Not worth it. The end.

That being said, the man that I live with went to see it a second time. And apparently was ok with not getting a full 6 hours of his life back between the two screenings.

Cora - I'm Na'vi, not s'Murf

whatigotsofar - Yup, we lifted the 3D glasses.

Joshua - Definately a movie to see "big screen". Ask your local theater if they are even going to get it.

mo - Do sell 'foot long' subs over there, or are they '305 mill's long'?

SkylersDad - Well, black IS one of out colors.

JenJen - You must have NEVER eaten asparagus if you think this involves "ass gas" and not a way to brew your own perfume.

Leah - I was kidding. I saw the whole thing. It doesn't feel as long as the running time indicates. And it is totally an effects movie. The 3D was cool, because the effects were subtle, not gimmicky.

I heart FFD - Bah, what do you know about movies? Like you have seen all the "Best Picture" Oscar winning movies or something.

Yes, I'm a bit behind, but HOLY COW. When did 3-D glasses start looking real?
