Guest Blogger – Museum of the Art Institute

[Editor's Note: Today's blog post is my guest blogger's first blog post. She and her mom flew into town to visit me this weekend, and we started the trip off with a visit to the Museum of the Art Institute of Chicago. Without further ado, I bring you my future daughter, Gwen.]

Hello. My name is Gwen. I usually spend my time at home in the state of Washington, but for the past couple of days, I have been in Chicago. On the first day, I woke up at home at 3:30 a.m., and was on the plane by 6:30. We arrived just after 12:00. We went straight to the Art Institute of Chicago. There were many paintings, sketches, sculptures, etc. Here are a few:

[Editor's Note: We were trying to ape the people in the the painting. That explains my shirt and hair, really.

And a great thanks to Gwen, for helping me out on this post.]

And posted on the wrong day!

I forget the name of that picture, but the one at the end, the one you aped. I heard that picture is supposed to be of a father and daughter, not husband and wife.

Great job, Gwen! : )

I usually go to bed at 3:30 am, so I can't even imagine waking up then. I'm impressed!

And that last picture is great! Scope, you have the expression down pat. lol!

You really ought to have displayed your pitchfork.

Leah & Mo - Due to the post 911 world, I had to check my pitchfork @ coatcheck.

wigsf - "American Gothic" is the painting. Per Wiki, there's a little debate over whether the woman is daughter or wife. The models were the painter's sister and his dentist. The sister claimed it was a spinster daughter, but then, she may not want to be viewed as having married such an old man.

J.J. - I've got a the blank look down pat? Thanks....

SkylersDad - She especially liked the 2nd picture, because it looks like the hill in "Nightmare Before Christmas".

Cora - Like mother, like daughter. Born to blog. And I'm surprised Gwen was able to snap the picture in the 3 seconds you weren't giggling then.

Jan - We certainly had a fun time at the museum.

While I don't remember the context, I do remember you blogging about the joys of farting in elevators. It's a shame I associate that with you, right? :) Anyway, I recently came across this blog that I love & saw this entry in the archives that reminded me of your story.
